Context-Based Novel Histogram Bin Stretching Algorithm for Automatic Contrast Enhancement

This article presents CHBS, a novel context-based histogram bin stretching method that enhances the contrast by increasing range of gray levels and randomness among levels. It comprises image spatial contextual information discrete cosine transform (DCT). constitutes global enhancement with local details DCT. First, it uses similarities surrounding pixels to generate random numbers. Unlike other methods, similarity map is generated based on neighboring pixels’ mutual relationship. Intensity values are distributed available dynamic contrast-enhanced image. Second, DCT further applied previous adjust its automatically. Several experiments conducted different degraded images. Both subjective objective assessment outcomes validate projected approach better or comparable several state-of-the-art approaches in terms brightness preservation, richer details, natural appearance.
